This workshop will look at the principles and practice of the Mental Capacity Act 2005
It will cover: Core Principles Consent, Capacity Assessment, Best Interest, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Care Planning and Advance Decisions
We will discuss four themes, Empowerment: Supported Decision Making, Best Interest and Unwise Choice
Using a co-production approach, the workshop will focus on the needs of each person who may lack capacity:
How do we ensure they are at the centre of the decision making process?
How do we respect their wishes and feelings?
How do we understand and act on their priorities?
How do we work successfully with Attorneys, Deputies and family members?
