Did you know that charity companies that don’t pay tax are eligible for Museums and Galleries Exhibition Tax Relief (MGETR)?

Understanding the new Museums and Galleries Exhibition Tax Relief

Tuesday 24 April 2018, 10:00 – 12:00
Registration 09.30
Free

Scott–Moncrieff in association with Arts & Business Scotland invite you to this one-off event to hear directly from Kerry Pope, Senior Policy Advisor - Creative Industry Tax Reliefs, HMRC on the new Museums and Galleries Tax Relief (MGETR).

MGETR is a new way for charitable companies to obtain a cash repayment from HMRC. If your museum or gallery creates a new exhibition or display, it could be eligible for MGETR.

  • Charitable companies must maintain a museum or gallery (including a library to qualify)
  • The relief allows charitable companies to reclaim some of the costs of creating new temporary, permanent and touring exhibitions.  Qualifying companies may claim a credit worth up to £100,000 on exhibitions that tour and £80,000 on non-touring exhibitions.
  • Only charitable companies or companies owned by a local authority or charity can claim, unfortunately charitable trusts are not eligible.
