About the session:

Join Arlene De Cruz (https://www.chaperonesandtutors.com/) where she will give insight into the role of chaperones and their involvement in a production process. From the audition room, to the film set, to backstage of a theater, we will learn about the responsbilities of a chaperone role and the knowledge they have to guide the young performer through a professional project.

About the Facilitator:

Initially stepping out in 2008 as a parent chaperone, Arlene applied for her chaperones licence.

Finding herself on set without any formal training for her role or how a production works, Arlene set about supporting other parents and production by starting CATS - Chaperones And Tutors Services Limited, an agency supplying chaperone and tutors to our creative industries.

In 2013 Arlene was invited to be part of the working groups supporting the 2014 revisions to our Child Performance Regulations, and delivered these to the industry alongside PACT, DfE, BBC and other industry partners.Joining BECTU in 2017 Arlene launched the Broadcast and Film Chaperones and Tutors branch, and later went on to create a training course which is City & Guilds Accredited, training Chaperones, Tutors our AD teams, Production Managers and Production Coordinators.

Alongside training Arlene’s current work is consulting for the industry at The CPSH - Children’s Production Support Hub, which she launched in 2020 as one stop shop where production can access all they require when working with children and young people.
