What is this workshop?

Young people and representatives from the public, private, and charitable sector will explore life in Hackney and the findings from our past research with young people - looking at what causes young people to feeling safe/unsafe, welcome/unwelcome, and what really needs to change.

For young people:

We want to hear about your experiences of living in Hackney, and specifically, the where/when/why of:

feeling unsafe/ worried about safety;
feeling unwelcome (due to a lack of access to equal opportunities, safe/ nice spaces, stereotyping, etc.).

These are themes that emerged from our recent conversations with local people, and we want to hear your perspectives on this.

The workshop will start at 5:30pm - doors will be open from 5:15 onwards.

Bring your voices and thoughts, and we will provide snacks and dinner.

For representatives from the private, public, and social sector:

We want to hear your perspectives and expertise to improve the services that serve young Hackney residents, specifically thinking about:

safety and safeguarding, and
the accessibility of places, spaces and opportunities.

Please arrive at 6:30pm - there will be half an hour of food and a chance to meet with young people, before getting into the second half of the workshop.

6:30 - 7:00: Food and networking for young people and representatives

7:00 - 8:00: Exploring the places and spaces that contribute to feeling unsafe/unwelcome, and the causes and opportunities linked to these.

8:00 - 8:15: Outlining how people can get involved in the next step of this project.
