Understanding Type-2 Diabetes
This fun, interactive session is brought to you by our DESMOND team. The session aims to increase knowledge of Type 2 diabetes. We will explore what happens in the body when you don’t have diabetes, as well as the differences when diabetes is present. We will also look at signs, symptoms and causes of type 2 diabetes as well as methods for management and prevention. The session will also include a look at foods that directly and indirectly effect diabetes as well as signposting onto services that support with diabetes. There will also be an opportunity to have your questions and queries answered.
DESMOND is the acronym for Diabetes Education and Self Management for Ongoing and Newly Diagnosed. It is part of a school of patient education for people with diabetes, developed by a number of NHS Organisations.
The session will take place on Microsoft Teams on Friday 29th January (1:30pm-3:30pm).

DESMOND is a way to learn more about Type 2 diabetes. DESMOND is a resource to help manage diabetes-related changes. DESMOND is a way to meet and share life experiences with others .DESMOND is a group of education programmes designed for people with diabetes. DESMOND is an NHS organisation that helps to deliver high quality patients education to people with type 2 diabetes, or those who are at risk of diabetes.
Lancashire Recovery College provides a learning service that works alongside experts by experience and professionals by experience, to co-produce courses that enhance wellbeing and social opportunities in your community.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
All of our courses are available to anyone over 16, please get in touch with us if you would like to attend courses and you are younger than 16, we may have other opportunities available in the near future.
Who is the course available too?
The course is available to anybody who lives or works in the Lancashire & South Cumbria area.

You will need a PC, laptop, tablet or phone with a camera.
