Description

Universal Credit Engagement Event

The Government has confirmed that the roll out schedule for Universal Credit Full Service will continue as planned and will therefore arrive in Cardiff on 28th February 2018.

Universal Credit will replace six means tested benefits including Housing Benefits

  • Income Support
  • Income Based JSA
  • Income Related ESA
  • Working Tax Credits
  • Child Tax Credits
  • Housing Benefits

The administration of Universal Credit is very different to the benefits that it is replacing. There are three key changes to which claimants will need to adapt:

  • A single payment to the household
  • Paid monthly in arrears
  • Universal Credit Housing Cost Element (help for rent) paid directly to the claimant

Pivotal to the success of implementing Universal Credit in Cardiff is the partnership and collaborative working between the Local Authority, its stakeholders and partners to deliver timely, accurate, comprehensive advice and support.

About the event:

This is a FREE event which will provide participants with an overview of Universal Credit and the customer journey, what private landlords can expect in relation to a tenant receiving Universal Credit and the support and advice available for private Sector Landlords and their tenants.
