About this event

Project Overview

Voices Through Art is a creative and inclusive initiative that celebrates the voices of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) across Norfolk. Through expressive artwork, including “All About Me” drawings, these young individuals share their interests, challenges, and experiences in a reflective and visual way.

Training

Join Laura and Amy, SEND Participation Officers, for a hands-on, creative training session designed to deepen your understanding of inclusive engagement with children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

🎨 What to Expect

This isn’t your typical training. You’ll take part in a Voices Through Art workshop, experiencing it just as a young person would. This immersive approach helps you see what makes sessions fun, accessible, and inclusive.

🧠 What You’ll Learn

· Creative Communication: Explore how to hear the voices of young people who are non-verbal or use alternative communication methods.

· Adapting in Real Time: Learn how to tailor sessions for a wide age range and adjust activities based on who attends.

· Behind the Scenes: Understand the planning process — from risk assessments to session design — all shaped by what young people want and need.

· Practical Resources: Discover the tools and materials available to support inclusive participation.

🌟 Why It Matters

· Celebrate Young Voices: See real examples of artwork created by children and young people with SEND.

· Shape Better Services: Learn how this creative input is used to influence and improve services.

· Benefit Your Organisation: Gain insights and strategies you can take back to your own setting to enhance inclusivity and engagement.
