4 days of training in 'Understanding and Supporting the Mental Health of Children and Young People'

Dates: 16,30 Sept and 14 and 21 Oct 2025

Cost: £490 for 25/26 academic year

Arrive at 9:00 in time for 09:30 start, finish approx 3:30pm

Day One (16 Sept): Understanding mental health / risk and resilience / trauma / anxiety/ low mood / hyperactivity. Introduction to 'what helps?'

Day Two (30 Sept): Understanding self-harm and suicide and how to talk to distressed young people. what helps; Emotion coaching, listening skills.

Day Three (14 Oct): Supporting the family, working with parents. Using tools to evidence the outcomes and recording interventions.

Day Four (21 Oct): Endings, Staff and self-wellbeing and supervision/CPD.

COST/FUNDING: £490 per place

Please be aware there are limited training places and early planning/booking is advisable. It would be appreciated if you could communicate your school's preference for invoicing at the time of booking i.e. who & contact details.

PACKAGE: 4 days of foundation training, termly networking for 2 hours and 5 supervision sessions of one hour, or 1.5 hours for 2 staff. Also included is access to extensive resources via Dropbox such as worksheets and assessment tools to ensure a safe set-up to offer a 'Listening Ear' service. To note: Trainees MUST undertake a minimum of 5 hours of support and evidence CPD to remain in The Hope Project.

WHAT NOW? To sign up and participate please ask the trainee to book on via Eventbrite. Please note it MUST be the trainee's name and email address, and not that of a school admin or the headteacher, to ensure that the hand-outs and information reach the correct person. The school will be expected to agree and sign a service level agreement (SLA) and provide the necessary invoicing information.

Practical considerations: Arrive shortly after 09:00 for a 09:30 start. Refreshments will be provided, bring your own mug. Lunch is 'bring your own'. The venue is close to shops/town for lunch options if required.
