UNESCO World Heritage Site- 'Kofun' Tour
About this event
Osaka is one of the urban places in Japan. It is one of the most popular tourist spots and famous for shopping, delicious food and tourist attractions.
Osaka also attracts people who are interested in both modern and ancient cultures.
It has historical places, artefacts, remains and relics.
There are many emperor's tombs dating from 1600 years ago.
They are called 'Kofun' in Japanese.
Many giant and unique-shaped kofuns have been well preserved in Osaka.
These kofuns were designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2019.
Those magnificent kofuns are located in the Mozu and Furuichi areas of Osaka.
The kofun located in Mozu is the biggest in Japan and the longest in the world.
Since Kofun has a long history, there are many mysteries.
It is still not clear why they were built in Osaka and how they were constructed.
That makes people more interested to learn about the kofuns.
In addition to that, we can see the correlation between kofuns and the people who have lived there.
Kofuns are indispensable to people living in Osaka, including me.
This is a mark of respect and tradition for the people in Osaka.
On this tour, we will take side views of those Kofuns while strolling around the beautiful park.
At the end of the tour, we will watch a short film of Kofuns and Sakai city in Osaka.
Let's enjoy the tour !
