Uneven Ground: Structures of Class

Uneven Ground: Structures of Class

By Let's Talk About Class Techne Research Group
Online event

Overview

Join us for the third session of this Techne student-led event series exploring the interplay of class, place and identity.

Uneven Ground provides a space to explore how class shapes our everyday lives, often in subtle, uneven, and deeply rooted ways. Join us for a monthly series of online events over the coming months. These sessions will bring together a range of voices to reflect on the complex interplay between class, place, and identity.

Drawing on insights from researchers across the arts and humanities, the series encourages critical engagement with how class influences the ways we see, navigate, and make sense of the world around us. The programme will culminate in an in-person gathering, designed to bring these conversations together through cooperative, generative dialogue.

Structures of place are neither neutral nor natural, and can signify both possibilities and limitations for existence. They are not only physical, but are also socially, culturally, and politically made and remade. This week, we examine how structures of place relate to belonging and disbelonging, inclusion and exclusion, and explore how space and place shape identities.

In this session, we will hear from three speakers on this topic, followed by a Q&A. Details of confirmed speakers are below. More details (including speaker bios) TBC.
