What will it take to end forced marriage and is that future within reach?
Join us for this special edition of Toynbee Talks as we explore how we can dismantle the systems that allow forced marriage to persist and what real protection and prevention could look like.
Our speakers:
- Dr Maryyum Mehmood, Joint Head of the UK’s Forced Marriage Unit, is a leading expert on ‘honour’-based abuse, forced marriage, and spiritual abuse. Previously Policy and Research Advisor to the Domestic Abuse Commissioner for England and Wales, she brings deep insight into the policy landscape and the real-life challenges faced by marginalised communities.
- Katie Taylor, Head of Communities and Social Change at Toynbee Hall, brings frontline experience from working directly with women and marginalised groups, offering powerful reflections on grassroots approaches to protection and prevention.
We’ll dive into real solutions from government policy to grassroots activism and explore how communities can be empowered to lead change.
