About this event

A WAKE-UP CALL FOR US ALL

The far right has been growing rapidly in Britain. We have all been part of trying to stop it, but now the challenge is much greater than it’s ever been.

The fascist led, “Unite the Kingdom” demonstration marked a watershed moment for us all. Tommy Robinson, a fascist who was a member of the BNP and founder of the EDL, managed to position himself at the forefront of a far right movement with over 100,000 supporters on the biggest far right demo in British history.

Speeches at the event referenced the “great replacement theory” and were marked by pronounced racism and Islamophobia. He is supported by the world’s richest man, Elon Musk and by other wealthy individuals globally.

While not everyone at that demonstration is a fascist or far-right, we must be deeply concerned that they were all mobilised under far-right leadership. Fascist groups openly paraded their flags and banners on the march.

At the same time, for the first time ever, a party to the right of the Conservative Party— Reform UK—now sits in Parliament. Racist Reform UK is riding high in the polls, maintaining support of 30% or more for many months. The possibility of a far-right government in the UK cannot be dismissed and would be disastrous for us all.

URGENT ACTION NEEDED

Stand Up To Racism has called this meeting because we know we all need to do more.

We are proud of the mobilisations protecting asylum hotels and standing against the far right, of the response to last summer’s riots and of the tireless work SUTR activists do in local areas to campaign against the far right and stand with communities under attack.

But we believe we need deeper roots and more involvement from across our movement, if we are to make an impact on the growth of the far right.

We think we can stop them. The task is to mobilise the anti-racist majority that exists in Britain -and who stopped the far right riots last August - into a coherent movement in the coming months.

Join us to build the movement against Racism and Fascism
