Overview: Sustaining and Showcasing University-Led Children’s Universities
University-led Children’s Universities have so much to offer when it comes to widening participation, supporting lifelong learning, and helping universities deliver on their civic role. With the policy landscape shifting and more focus on evidence and impact, now feels like a good time to come together and think about how we can strengthen the position and sustainability of CU within higher education.
This session will create space to:
- Look at how CU activity currently features (or doesn’t) in Access and Participation Plans (APPs)
- Think about how our work aligns with emerging priorities from the OfS and the Department for Education
- Share challenges, ideas, and what’s working well across different institutions
- Explore how we’re using data and evaluation – and where we could be more joined-up
- Talk about how we make the case for CU more clearly and collectively across the sector
- Consider how the Trust can support this work through national messaging, partnerships, and sector engagement
We also want this meeting to help shape a stronger story we can tell to universities and colleges not currently involved in CU – to help grow the network and build the case for why it matters.
All university-based CU centres are really welcome to join and contribute to this conversation
