Description

Welcome to the University of Birmingham Business Club.

The University of Birmingham Business Club is a network that gives businesses and academics the opportunity to meet and develop mutually-beneficial collaborations. Are you looking to innovate within your company? Are you looking to fund a programme of research and development? Could your company provide internships for our student populace? The Business Club is the point of contact to answer these questions and more.

Hosted every two months, the Club's Breakfast Briefings are themed around business-relevant presentations and networking time. Breakfast and refreshments are provided free of charge, with the University's support team on hand to answer any questions that may arise about innovation funding.

Being A Responsible Business

As companies face increasing pressure to consider the wider impact of their business practices, this Breakfast Briefing will address what it means to be a responsible business in 2018.

Led by the Lloyds Banking Group Centre for Responsible Business within the University of Birmingham Business School, the briefing will introduce the Centre’s interdisciplinary body of work that seeks to inform, shape and energise what has been referred to as the ‘Responsible Business Revolution’. For more information on the Centre’s work click here.

The partnership between the University and Lloyds Banking Group provides an opportunity for businesses to work with Birmingham Business School to address the challenges of responsible business transformation and to understand the obstacles to change in order to offer authentic, long-term solutions. Established in July 2017, the centre contributes to our understanding of a number of relevant challenges that companies face, including those of responsible finance, the development of sustainable business models, the furtherance of workplace inclusion strategies and environmental sustainability.

Speakers include:

Professor Mark Saunders, Birmingham Business School

Sophie Sinclair, Lloyds Banking Group Centre for Responsible Business

Nicola Templeton, Business in The Community (BiTC)

Dr Matteo Fuoli, Department of English Language and Applied Linguistics

Additional speakers to be confirmed.

Companies and academics are also welcome to deliver short, 4-minute elevator pitches at the briefing. If you are interested in pitching then please get in touch: businessteam@contacts.bham.ac.uk
