Description

UNIVERSITY OF BIRMINGHAM CHRISTIANITY & SOCIAL ENGAGEMENT FORUM –

SOCIAL ASPIRATION, THE NEW PRIME MINISTER & FAITH BASED SOCIAL ACTION

Over the last eighteen months, backed by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the Economic and Social Research Council we have been researching the social action and civic engagement of ' megachurches’. Very often drawing on black and minority communities these congregations are growing fast and represent a new feature in the landscape of our social, economic and spiritual capital.

With this in mind we would like to invite you personally to a special event focused on Young People, Social Aspiration & Innovation, Education. There are VIP speakers and participants including Theresa Esan MBE from Kingsway International Christian Centre, who runs their ‘Breaking Educational Barriers’ project & Mike Royal, Director of TLG The Education Charity . Those with an interest in social inclusion will have the opportunity to explore some of the most innovative UK faith based responses to increasing HE participation reducing truancy and unlocking the talent of especially BME young citizens.

Attendance is free but booking is required.

Venue: STEWARDSHIP OFFICES, 1 LAMBS PASSAGE, LONDON EC1Y 8AB

Date: WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 28th, 2016
