This event will be hosted by Professor Sir Peter Mathieson, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Edinburgh, who will share the latest news from campus, including highlights of the world-changing impact of the University’s research and our international outreach.

You will also have the chance to hear from Professor Shannon Vallor, Chair in the Ethics of Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Director of the Centre for Technomoral Futures at the Edinburgh Futures Institute, who will lead a fireside conversation on "AI: past, present and future".

Professor Vallor will be joined by Stanford Professors Christopher Manning, Professor of Computer Science and Linguistics and Director of the Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (SAIL), and Rob Reich, Professor of Political Science and Director of the McCoy Center for Ethics in Society. Both Professor Manning and Professor Reich are Associate Directors of the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence.

A reception will follow the panel conversation and you will have the chance to connect with representatives from the University of Edinburgh including Chris Cox, Vice-Principal Advancement, while networking with fellow alumni and friends over drinks and canapés.
