Event description

Description

Why not join the University of Leicester for a drinks reception, light buffet and an evening of networking?

Whether you studied at the University, are thinking about studying at the University, simply want to find out what the University is up to or just want to hear from world leading geneticist, Professor Turi King, everyone is welcome to join us.

Professor Turi King will offer a fascinating insight into the Grey Friars project which discovered the mortal remains of King Richard III, the last Plantagenet King of England, and will talk about the project from the early stages of planning the dig, through to the excavation and the results of the various strands of analysis carried out on the remains. It was thought that the chances of finding the remains of Richard III were slim to none but the project led to the identification of the last King of England to die in battle, thereby closing a 500 year old cold case and attracting world-wide coverage.
