Description

Come and spend a day in the School of Fine and Performing Arts at the University of Lincoln.

Find out about our fantastic undergraduate courses:

  • BA (Hons) Dance

  • BA (Hons) Drama & Theatre

  • BA (Hons) Music

Each course will be holding their own Taster Day, the day is designed for KS4 and KS5 students interested in studying Dance, Drama or Music at university. Participants will have the opportunity to take part in 3 specialist workshops led by academic staff, campus tours, Q&A sessions with staff and students as well as learn more about what it means to study performing arts at university.

For more information on each course Taster day please see below. The complete schedule for the day will be sent to you once you have completed your booking.

This day is open to individual students or school/ college groups. Groups are welcome to bring students for multiple subjects, however students can only sign up for one subject. Each course Taster Day will be running of the same timings. This event is free.

Dance

The BA (Hons) Dance course at the University of Lincoln offers a practice-based curriculum that reflects the vocational needs of professional dancers. Our Taster Days are a great way to experience the life of a UoL dancer and see the excellent facilities on offer first hand. The day will include Release based Technique classes, Choreographic workshops and Contact Improvisation and Partnering sessions. Staff and students will be available to talk to students interested in studying Dance at university. As part of our subject talk we will also consider graduate employability and career prospects. The day is designed to gain new skills, meet new people and have fun!

Drama & Theatre:

The School of Drama at Lincoln University offers the opportunity to engage in specially formulated workshops to give a flavour its Honours Degree programme but also to stretch the capabilities and stimulate the interests of students currently in Further Education. Participants will be able to learn from actor/choreographer/director Teo Ghil in a workshop that will be based around the principles of movement and ensemble; they will explore the foundational aspects of how to read a play text with Dr James Hudson; and they will work with Dr Kelly Jones in a practical workshop, applying what they have learned in her ‘Staging the Ghost Story’ workshop.

Music:

Is sound music?

Studying music can sometimes feel all about the notes on the page or standing up and performing. In this taster day you will move beyond this as you explore the inner workings of sound itself, thinking about where sound ends and music begins. You will have the opportunity to explore new ideas in practical activities, discussions and debates, whilst getting a feel for studying music at university. Led by expert academic staff, the day will provide you with ideas and experiences you can use to enhance your own work.
