University of Liverpool Joint Staff Networks Diversity & Equality Event - 'Shaping the Future'

The University of Liverpool’s Staff Networks are proud to be hosting their inaugural Joint Staff Networks Equality and Diversity Event. The theme of the event is ‘Shaping the Future’ and will look at the positive effects that engaging with Equality and Diversity can have on an organisation such as our University.
The agenda for this event will be as follows:
12.00 – 12.30 Buffet lunch for all attendees
12.30 – 12.35 Opening address: Vice Chancellor, Professor Janet Beer
12.35 – 1.05 Mr David Ruebain, Chief Executive, Equality Challenge Unit
1.05 – 1. 20 The Vice Chancellor, Professor Janet Beer (summary of the future direction of the University’s commitment to Equality and Diversity)
1.20 – 1.30 The Vice Chancellor awards the prizes for the Disabled Staff Network
Competition: ‘Time to Change – what mental health means to me’ and the winners read out their entries
1.30 – 1.50 A ‘Time to Change’ - what mental health in the workplace means to me: Dr Jenna Kenyani
1.50 – 2.15 Refreshments and networking
2.15 – 3.10 Research Showcase
Four brief presentations on Equality and Diversity research taking place at the University of Liverpool:
- The art of balancing work and family as a research scientist
- The Role of People and Place in Neighbourhood Identity: A Study of L8
- The experiences and needs of LGBT people seeking asylum and refugees living and accessing support in Liverpool
- Disability research and disabled researchers
3.10 – 3.30 Closing address: Professor Graham Kemp, Director of the Liverpool Doctoral College and Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Post-Graduate Research
3.30 onwards Networking
This event will take place in the Hub Lounge in the Foresight Centre, location C10 on the campus map:

The Diversity and Equality team work to promote equality at the University of Liverpool. We support a number of events organised by staff networks, awareness raising campaigns, and initiatives.
This includes Flagship Liverpool, and public engagement programme on LGBT Equality; Liverpool Women in Science and Engineering Society, promoting gender equality in STEM; Black History Month, LGBT History Month, International Women's Day, IDAHO, Liverpool Pride, Disability History Month, World Mental Health Day etc.
