Travel and arrival information for delegates
The days starts at 10.30am with a welcome talk, please arrive from 9.30am.
From the train station you can take a bus from the Interchange (service 52 or 120), alternatively you can take a Blue service tram towards Malin Bridge (get off at University of Sheffield tram stop). It is approximately 30 minute walk from the train station. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer car parking on campus, however there are nearby car parks with a small charge in the vicinity.
When you arrive please have your printed ticket(s) or e-ticket(s) on your smartphone ready so that we can sign you in quickly. You'll get a programme for the day and light refreshments will be available from 9.30am after you sign in.
There will be a separate programme each for students and any accompanying parents or guardians. A free lunch will be provided for both students and parents or guardians.
The day will finish for 4pm and light refreshments will be provided before you depart.
Travelling by train?
If you are travelling by train, it could be worthwhile getting a 16-25 Railcard if you haven't already got one as this gives you 1/3 discount on most rail fares (the railcard costs £30 renewable each year). Advance tickets are usually much cheaper than Anytime or Off Peak Return, although are valid on the specific service only whereas the more expensive tickets allow greater flexibility. If you are booking Advance tickets, it is best to book a train from Sheffield after about 5.15pm to get to the train station with plenty of time.
If you are travelling from London or South East, it is worth looking at www.megatrain.com (external link) which offers very cheap train tickets at certain times (you get an e-ticket reference number which is valid for the specific train only). It may work out cheaper using your Oyster Card to get to London St Pancras International and then use a megatrain ticket direct to Sheffield.
