Un/Learning Space is a newly initiated project by Open Space to support and mentor emerging art creatives. By both learning and unlearning, the workshops that will be available between April-September 2021 will aim to question the classical institutional teaching.

In this session, artist Inês Neto dos Santos will discuss the importance of knowledge sharing and horizontal learning in her practice, and offer insight into ways of opening up an artist’s practice to others via the format of the workshop. This will be explored through a series of short exercises and discussions. For artists and creative practitioners interested in non-institutional education, participation and democratising access to art practice.

Inês Neto dos Santos (b.1992, PT) is a multidisciplinary artist based between London and Brussels. Co-curator of Open Space’s Tender Touches (2019) art café exhibition alongside Huma Kabakci, she studied at the Royal College of Art (2016) and London College of Communication (2013). Her practice stands between performance and installation – using food, people and spaces as metaphors and prompts for discussion and conversation. Neto dos Santos explores the stories and performative actions behind eating, feeding, and cooking. She has exhibited internationally, including Lisbon, Porto, Madrid, Kuwait, Athens and London and recently undertook a residency at Villa Lena in Tuscany.
