Event description

Description

How can we trace and evidence the power of creative conversations in innovation intermediaries?

This event brings together leading thinkers, practitioners and policy-makers in the field of innovation to discuss the future of innovation intermediaries in urban contexts.

The conversation will build on the findings of NetCreate, an ESRC-funded 8-month research study on collective creativity in London hubs and intermediaries conducted by a team at the UCL Institute for Global Prosperity. The researchers will share key insights from their qualitative study, which traced the creative business development of 12 entrepreneurs based in hubs and intermediaries across London and examined the role these spaces play in facilitating creative conversations among their members.

The panel will reflect on the research findings and highlight opportunities for change in the industry.

Panellists include:

  • Prof Mariana Mazzucato, Director, UCL Institute for Innovation & Public Purpose: Rethinking investment for public impact

  • Indy Johar, Architect and Place Strategist, Project 00/Impact Hub: Hubs as the creative centres of the civic economy

  • John Davies, Economic Research Fellow, Creative and Digital Economy, Nesta: Connecting human interactions with digital networks

  • Chair: Dr Tuukka Toivonen, Senior Lecturer in Social Innovation, UCL Institute for Global Prosperity and Principal Investigator of NetCreate

The panel conversation will be followed by Q&A and an informal drinks reception.
