· Delegates are expected to have Intermediate / Advanced level of excel.

Course Equipment:

· All delegates will be required to provide their own *laptop (fully charged) for their use during each day.

· Not compulsory, but Excel 365 is strongly recommended.

· *Power BI Desktop needs to be installed before attending Day 2 of the training.

· Training guides/handouts will be provided to delegates 5 days prior to the event.


Equipment Guidance:

  • *Laptops – Windows laptops are recommended for this course as they provide full functionality. MacBooks are also welcome, but would require additional input as set out below.
  • Power BI Desktop is only available in Windows. MacBook users would need to either install Power BI Desktop on a Virtual Machine or in Windows through the Dual Boot option. Please reach out to your IT support should you need any assistance before the course.


  • If you are using a company laptop, downloading and installing Power BI Desktop may be subject to internal company IT policies. Having company-wide licences is useful for delegates who wish to start sharing dashboards and reports to different users within the company. Should you wish to collaborate on dashboards within your company, the company-wide licences would need to be obtained by each respective company.


  • The Power BI Desktop, has more tools and capabilities than the Power BI Online version, and is thus preferred for this course.

Presenter/Trainer:

Rona van Hoepen CA(SA), FCMA, CGMA

Rona van Hoepen is a director and one of the founding members of IMPACT Financial Training Academy (Pty) Ltd, a company that specialises in Financial and Business Skills training, as well as consultation in related fields. She is a Chartered Accountant (SA), Fellow Chartered Management Accountant, and holds a Master’s degree in Management Accounting.

She has a total of nine years lecturing experience at the University of Pretoria, University of Johannesburg and Northwest University respectively, for which she has received distinctive teaching awards. She specialised in lecturing Management Accounting, Costing, Financial Management, Risk Management and Business Strategy to students of various levels, as well as training to both government institutions and private sector companies in these subject fields.

She has been with IMPACT Financial Training Academy (Pty) Ltd as one of the full-time trainers and facilitators since 2015, and has consistently received outstanding feedback from course delegates. Her areas of expertise include advanced financial modelling in Excel, optimising power tools in Excel, advanced applications in Power BI, as well as a high level of technical knowledge of the CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) Professional Qualification.

She is also involved with the CIMA professional body, used to be a member of the CIMA Gauteng Branch Committee, and currently serves as a Trustee on the CIMA Benevolent Fund Board of Trustees and as a member of the CIMA Council.
