In this intensive 4-hour session, you'll gain practical skills and knowledge in:
- Implementing Mobile Fencing: Design and install mobile electric fencing systems that adapt to any terrain, even on challenging hill and upland landscapes.
- Energizer Expertise and Troubleshooting: Select the right energizer for your needs and learn how to power it sustainably with solar energy.
- Adaptive Grazing Strategies: Implement adaptive grazing strategies to maximize forage utilization and improve livestock performance.
- Water Infrastructure Planning: Plan and set up water infrastructure to support rotational grazing and enhance animal welfare.
- Techniques for maintaining productive grazing in an Upland setting.
- See a real-world example of successful infrastructure development and rough grazing utilisation from Rotmell Farm.
Hands-On Experience:
Get ready to roll up your sleeves! This module includes a practical session where you'll learn how to set up a mobile electric fence system, from post placement to wire tensioning.
This training session is co-delivered by:
- Alex Brewster, Farmer and Director of Powered Pasture: Leading experts in regenerative grazing and livestock management.
- Pasture for Life: Champions of 100% pasture-fed livestock systems.
- Hosted at Alex's home, Rotmell Farm: A regenerative farming business showcasing innovative grazing practices, across multiple enterprises.
Lunch and refreshments are included in the cost of your ticket. Please inform us of any dietary requirments during booking.
A £20 discount is available to Pasture to Life members booking a place on this training session, reducing the cost of this session from £85 to £65. This will be refunded upon conformation of a Pasture for Life membership after booking a place at full price.

Refreshments such as tea and coffee will be provided throughout the day, and lunch will also be made available upon arrival. Any dietary restrictions can be accommodated for.
Due to limited site access we cannot guarantee that all of those who have accessibility challenges will be able to attend the course, but we will make every effort we can to ensure this is not the case. Please get in touch to discuss any concerns regarding accessibility.
Please do not plan to bring dogs to the event as they may disrupt the training, or day-to-day operations on-farm. Dogs will not be permitted during the farm walk, or in the indoor spaces.
Notepad and pens. Appropriate waterproof clothing, wellies or lace-up boots and warm clothing. You will be asked to disinfect your footwear on arrival. Please bring sunhat, sun cream and a water bottle in preparation for hot weather.
