Unlocked Voices : A Call Out to Residents in Withernsea
Event Information
About this Event
There’s a great new opportunity for residents of Withernsea who would like to join a virtual music making project and create a new piece of music to tell the world about life in the town since COVID-19.
The project starts on Thursday, 3 September with musicians from Manchester Camerata Orchestra who have worked in Withernsea over the previous four years as part of East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s award winning ‘Classically Yours’ Series, in partnership with Orchestras Live. The musicians are keen to work with the town by creating a new piece of music to share with everyone in the community, particularly the eight care homes they’ve been working with, where staff are working so hard to look after their residents
The project will run over 12 weeks and will involve six one-hour online sessions with composer Richard Taylor and musicians from Manchester Camerata. Each session will include a singalong, composing new music, listening to the musicians play their favourite pieces, a mindfulness moment, and the Kitchen Samba band. The samba band involves anything people can lay their hands on in the kitchen, like pots and pans, that they can play a rhythm on.
