This session will explore how fluency acts as the golden thread connecting phonics to confident, skilled reading across the curriculum. Drawing on the latest research, we’ll bust common myths, examine fluency’s role in vocabulary, oracy, and comprehension, and highlight why phonics doesn’t simply stop at the end of KS1. Expect practical strategies for developing fluency in KS2 classrooms, inclusive reading practices, and creating a ‘fluency diet’ across subjects.
