About this event

Join us for an engaging event to explore how the Miller family working alongside Daniel Stout (Stout Livestock consulting Ltd) have used FARMAX software and carbon modelling to assess the financial and carbon impacts of different grazing and youngstock sales decisions on the farm. Does a lower input system with fewer cows pay? Does it make more sense to have more cows and sell steers at weaning, or fewer cows and carry steers through a second summer? What about if beef prices fell back?

Come and hear how Duncan and Daniel have explored the cost and carrying capacity of each of these scenarios and how these might be implemented practically on farm.

We will also take a farm walk to see Duncan’s deferred grazing, how he’s planning to use the new Ritchie Beef Monitor on farm and to discuss plans for the future.

FREE to attend – This event is open to farmers and crofters only. Booking is essential due to limited places.

Meet at the main farmyard (///hikes.stage.essential, https://maps.app.goo.gl/HPpWyNiMrqwb2Vi66)

Lunch, tea and coffee will be provided.

This event is part of the Cairngorms Future Farming project of the Cairngorms National Park Authority's Cairngorms 2030 programme, supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
