In the latest of the North East Chamber workshop series, focussing on ‘people’ and ‘social value’ we are delighted to be working with HMP Kirklevington Grange and New Futures Network.
In delivering this workshop, we are working with businesses to explore how they can get involved and support people with convictions into meaningful work.
Building on our “Connecting Business and People” event earlier in 2025, we know that:
- Employment is one of the most effective ways to reduce reoffending. A steady job supports stability and reintegration.
- There is a wide range of practical support available for employers, including help with policies, disclosure, onboarding and mentoring.
- Partnership working between prisons, probation services, support organisations and employers is essential to successful rehabilitation and recruitment.
We’re inviting businesses to a unique event at HMP Kirklevington Grange on 23rd October to explore practical recruitment opportunities for your business.
There will be opportunity to see the prison facilities first hand, as well as hearing first hand how job opportunities support re-integration into society. There are also benefits to businesses for employing prison leavers.
This is a participatory workshop, where delegates are encouraged to share their thoughts and perspectives, as well as retaining an open mind as to the opportunities available.
Audience:
This workshop is aimed at employers in the region who are actively engaged in the recruitment of ex-offenders and/or are interested in finding out more above the process and the support available.
Please bring photo ID on the day (ideally an in-date Driving License or Passport), you will not be permitted into the establishment without this.
There are a number of security requirements, which will be shared with those registered prior to the event.
Registration will close at least 3 days prior to the event.
What do I wear to a Chamber event: We don’t have a dress code, but we suggest dressing as if meeting new clients. Your comfort is key.
Behaviour and conduct: our events create an inclusive space for individuals and organisations to meet, where we expect all our attendees to behave with courtesy and respect, to both each other and Chamber colleagues.
