Unlocking OR for all

Unlocking OR for all

By EURO Practitioners' Forum

Overview

From Models to Business Impact

The 6th Euro Practitioner's Forum Conference will be held in Warsaw, April 27-28, 2026.

The theme of this year’s conference is the end-to-end process of designing, developing, and deploying optimization projects. We will discuss not only models and algorithms, but how Operations Researchers can engage with end users, stakeholders and work with other specialists to deliver impact in their work. The core focus of the conference is this intersection of research, expertise and practical applications and how it affects OR projects in all stages, from conceptualization to practical use.

The conference will explore how to make OR solutions more easily accessible to a wider, non-expert audience, and discussions and presentations will help us as practitioners better understand how we can bring our solutions into use. The goal is to increase the impact and usage of OR across industries and application domains.

Travel Information

Warsaw, the capital of Poland, is situated in the central-eastern part of the country, on the banks of the Vistula River. As the largest city in Poland, Warsaw is well connected by air, rail, and road to other major European and international destinations.

Arrival in Warsaw by plane

Warsaw is served by two airports:

  • Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW) – the main international airport, located about 10 km from the city center.
  • Warsaw Modlin Airport (WMI) – mainly serving low-cost airlines, located about 40 km north of the city.

From Chopin Airport (WAW) to City Center:

  • By Train: Take the SKM commuter train (S2 or S3 lines) or Koleje Mazowieckie trains directly from the airport station to Warszawa Śródmieście (Warsaw Downtown Station). Travel time: ~20 minutes.
  • By Bus: Bus line 175 connects the airport to the city center, and bus line 188 connects the airport to the Warsaw University of Technology (Metro Politechnika). Travel time: ~30–40 minutes.
  • By Taxi: Taxis are available outside the arrivals hall. Official city taxis take around 20–30 minutes to the center, depending on traffic.
  • By Uber and Bolt: they are available at designated spots 1 and 2 in front of the arrival hall. When called through the app, you receive a code that must be presented to the driver.

From Modlin Airport (WMI) to City Center:

  • By Shuttle + Train: Shuttle buses connect Modlin Airport to Modlin railway station, from where Koleje Mazowieckie trains run to Warszawa Centralna. Travel time: ~1h15m.
  • By Bus: Several private companies offer direct buses to the Warsaw city center.
  • By Taxi: Sawa Taxi and Modlin Taxi are the official taxi companies. Travel time: ~40 minutes.

Arrival in Warsaw by train

Warsaw’s main station, Warszawa Centralna, is located in the heart of the city and offers excellent domestic and international rail connections (Berlin, Vienna, Prague, etc.). High-speed Pendolino and Intercity trains connect Warsaw with Kraków, Gdańsk, Wrocław, and Poznań.

Arrival in Warsaw by car

Warsaw is accessible by major highways:

  • From the west: A2 motorway (Poznań – Łódź – Warsaw).
  • From the south: S7 expressway (Kraków – Radom – Warsaw).
  • From the north: S8/S7 (Gdańsk – Warsaw).

Parking in the city center is limited, but park-and-ride facilities are available near metro stations.

Arrival in Warsaw by bus

International and domestic bus companies (FlixBus, PKS Polonus, etc.) connect Warsaw with numerous European and Polish cities. The main bus terminal is Warszawa Zachodnia (Warsaw West Station).

Conference Venue

The conference will take place at the Warsaw University of Technology (Politechnika Warszawska), in the Rektorska 4 building.

Address: Rektorska 4, 00-664 Warsaw, Poland. Google Maps Link

Founded in 1915, the university has a long tradition of excellence in engineering, technology, and science. The main campus is located in the city center, close to major hotels, restaurants, and cultural attractions. The Main Building is a landmark of 19th-century architecture.
