Event description

Description

The Cambridge Institute of Public Health (CIPH) annual conference will explore how researchers at the CIPH are working together to tackle major health challenges facing our population today and over the coming decades. Such challenges include those identified in the report, Improving the health of the public by 2040, which was produced in collaboration with CIPH researchers as well as the following topics:

  • Ageing population with multiple morbidities

  • Resource Depletion and inequalities

  • Behaviour determinants of health

  • Resistant Infectious Diseases

  • Methodology and standardization

Leading researchers and health professionals from across the CIPH will highlight some of the trailblazing public health work that is currently being carried out to improve the health of the public, with leading external speakers providing additional context and chairing the sessions.

We are also pleased to announce that this year’s key note lecture will be given by Dr Flavia Bustreo, Assistant Director-General, Family, Women’s and Children’s Health at the World Health Organisation.

Background of the CIPH

Now in its fourth year, the annual Cambridge Institute of Public Health conference and lecture series presents an opportunity for public health researchers, policymakers and professionals to come together, discover and discuss the latest public health research breakthroughs at Cambridge.

CIPH is a multidisciplinary partnership of public health researchers and professionals, based at the University of Cambridge. We generate knowledge and evidence to improve public health, using our research, teaching and analysis to promote well-being, prevent disease and reduce health inequalities. We engage with policymakers and collaborate with public health practitioners, commissioners, academia, the private sector, communities and the public to create impact from our work. Our members include units of Public Health England, the Medical Research Council, PHG Foundation and departments of the University’s School of Clinical Medicine. Visit: www.iph.cam.ac.uk.
