Across sectors, there’s growing talk of data as “the new gold” or “the new oil”, but what does that really mean for voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations? As data plays an increasingly prominent role, organisations in the VCSE space face both a challenge and an opportunity: how might data be better understood, used, and valued to support mission-driven work in ethical and responsible ways?
This focused, two-hour roundtable will bring together participants from across the VCSE sector, academia, and practice to explore these questions. Together, we’ll examine what it could mean to view data as a strategic asset.
What to Expect
This participatory session will combine brief Lightning Talks from practitioners with small- and whole-group discussions, creating space for reflection, exchange, and collaboration. We’ll dig into practical experiences, surface key challenges, and spotlight promising approaches, helping you connect with others who are navigating similar questions.
Whether you are already leading a data strategy or just beginning to think differently about how your organisation uses data, this session offers an opportunity to:
1. Hear from peers already thinking differently about the role of data
2. Explore real-world examples and practical insights
3. Share your own experiences in a supportive setting
4. Reflect on what it could mean to treat data as a strategic resource in your context
5. Build connections across roles, organisations, and sectors
Join us to explore how data, used wisely, can unlock new value and amplify the mission of organisations in the VCSE sector.
