Welcome to Unpacking Shame, Stigma, and Guilt: Perspectives on Women and Gambling

While gambling participation among women is on the rise, support-seeking behaviors don’t yet reflect this shift. In 2024, 46% of women reported gambling in the past four weeks—up from 44% in 2023—yet only 32% of calls to the National Gambling Helpline came from women.

Join us for a powerful and thought-provoking event where we explore the impact of shame, stigma and guilt that often prevent women from seeking help for their own gambling and as an affected other.

🔍 Key Topics Include:

  • How gender roles and societal expectations intensify shame and stigma
  • The barriers women face in accessing support
  • How services can evolve to better meet the needs of women affected by gambling

💬 Hear from our expert panel:

  • Claire Bennett, Interim CEO, Reframe Coaching
  • Nadine Ashworth, Director, Thrivin' Together
  • Sonia Rossington, Affected Other Clinical Coordinator, GamCare

This event is essential for professionals, practitioners, and anyone interested in creating safer, more inclusive support systems. Understand the role you can play in empowering women and breaking down the barriers to help.
