Event description

Description

Please note: this workshop is for film exhibitors only who are members of the BFI Film Audience Network film hubs.

---

Join Film Hub North for a free workshop unpacking the BFI Diversity Standards: the best practice benchmarks that the BFI and the Film Audience Network subscribe to in order to encourage equality of opportunity within the film industry.

We’ll delve into the details of what the Standards are, how they were developed and why they’re important. Policymakers and funders will be there to discuss the genesis of the Standards and how they should be integrated into funding applications, while exhibitors and programmers will be on-hand to talk about how inclusion can form an important part of your audience development strategy and how the Standards can promote a more rigorous programming process.

In addition to practical and policy advice from industry speakers, there’ll be the chance to chat with exhibitors from across the Film Audience Network, swapping ideas, sharing best practice and developing projects for funding applications.

Confirmed speakers

Toki Allison is the Film Audience Network Access Officer. She will be presenting on the principles of inclusion, top tips for projects looking to embrace diversity and the resources available to exhibitors through FAN.

Sarah-Jane Meredith is UK Wide Audiences Manager at the BFI. She will share insights into the value of the Diversity Standards from a funder's point of view and how organisations can best integrate the Standards into their funding proposals.

Julia Brown is Diversity Standards Manager and a Certification Analyst at the BFI. She will introduce the session, outlining what the Diversity Standards are, as well as how and why they were developed.

More confirmed speakers coming soon.
