Overview
Unspeakable is a drawing event focussing on the model and their looks of choice - outfits from their own wardrobes, and the aim is to capture their essence. The session is run by artist InkyLayla (@inkylayla) who is on hand to offer drawing advice to less experienced artists. The class is suitable for all levels. The environment is immersive and concentrated, with a curated soundtrack to get us into the zone.
For this special edition, we celebrate the launch of the album 'Face the Wall' by Lux Mother - a band formed by artists Frank Gambino and Layla Mohamed (InkyLayla). The first part of the session will see InkyLayla modelling to tracks which inspired the album, and the second part will be listening to the album itself in full. Frank will be running the session. There will be two looks, poses ranging from 5-15 minutes. Basic materials are provided, and feel free to bring your own.
For their debut album 'Face the Wall', LUXMOTHER weave together jazz, rock, trip-hop and dance music influences to create an eclectic sonic collection. Formed by songwriters and visual artists Frank Gambino and Layla Mohamed, LUXMOTHER delve into the mundanity of the everyday, with deadpan lyricism breaching topics including the dirge of life, work, alcoholism and paranoia. In combining honest sentiment with dynamic production, the band find humour in reality, bringing lightness to the banal.
There will be a bar where you can buy alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks before the session and during the half time break. We encourage attendees to stick around after the class to mingle, admire eachother's work and have another drink.
Drawing starts at 7pm sharp so make sure you arrive in time to get set up!
The venue is on the ground floor and accessible for wheelchairs.
