Energy and the UK Funding Landscape

Join UoB Business Club to discover how the University of Birmingham is promoting the adoption of zero-carbon energy technologies amongst local SMEs as well as the effective use of raw and waste materials.

Hear from businesses who have benefitted from the University of Birmingham's support in these areas and find out more about how we can support your business.

This Breakfast Briefing will also provide businesses and academics with an overview of national funding opportunities from Innovate UK, the UK's innovation agency.

Speakers include:

David Terry

ATETA Project, University of Birmingham

The ATETA project aims to promote research and innovation in the adoption of zero carbon energy technologies for eligible SME’s across several Local Enterprise Partnership areas. The project provides SMEs with access to a team of Knowledge Exchange Fellow’s who work with businesses in the University's state-of-the-art research facilities to identify ways to improve efficiency, identify new market prospects, test and demonstrate new ideas and ultimately grow businesses. To date the programme has succeeded in generating a net income of almost £25 million for the local economy.

Jon Roberts

ARLI Project, University of Birmingham

The ARLI Project brings together a team of experienced academics and engineers to support SMEs in developing cost-effective products and processes, which provide energy-efficiency gains in the use of raw and waste materials. The project aims to identify waste streams, or other materials, that could be transformed into higher value goods for construction and other manufacturing industry applications.
