Event description

Description

Have you ever wondered how research can inform policy decisions?

Are you unsure of the best routes for engagement with public policy?

Do you want to know more about when and how to communicate research to policymakers?

The popular series for UCL research staff and students continues on Wednesday 1 November with a focus on bringing together natural science, economics and national policy-making.

This session of Up Close & Policy brings together Prof Georgina Mace, Director of the UCL Centre for Biodiversity and Environment Research and Nick Barter, Deputy Director, Natural Environment Strategy, Defra, to discuss their experience of academic-policy interaction and their views on the complexities of policy engagement.

Come along for your chance to ask the experts about the opportunities and pitfalls in engaging with the world of policy, find out the insights they have gained, and hear what they consider are the key lessons for successful engagement.

The seminar will be followed by a sandwich lunch and opportunity to network.
