Shot over a period of five years, Up For Air follows Jerry Cahill, a 58-year-old pole-vaulting coach battling Cystic Fibrosis (CF). It showcases the fragility of life while revealing the power that self-discipline and community can have in prolonging it. From a public health perspective, the film is a powerful argument for the importance of exercise for everyone, including those living with chronic disease, a prevention message which is all too often lost in the day-to-day management of chronic illness.
