About this event

Bring an old, recycled or plain item you'd like to upcycle.. and transform it with the magic of acrylic pouring!

Under the guidance of local acrylic pouring enthusiast Laura, you will:

  • Select a colour combination that pops
  • Mix your own fluid paints to the perfect consistency
  • Layer your paints in a cup, and get ready for the most fun part... a dirty pour!!

Your items can be collected once dry to touch, to be proudly displayed in your home!

Suitable items / materials to bring:

  • Glass bottle, jar or vase (not intended for food, drink or dishwashing!) - with any labels removed, and best cleaned with white spirit
  • Unglazed ceramic ornament, tile or clean flower pot (glazed ceramics are not recommended as paint will not grip well)
  • Finished wood panel or tray (unfinished wood should be sanded, cleaned and primed with a base layer of paint or gesso)
  • An old vinyl record (that you don't want to play again!) - with the paper sticker removed
  • Used canvas - unvarnished, and painted over with paint or gesso
  • N.B. smooth, shiny or glossy materials including plastics or metals will not allow the paint to grip so are not suitable.

SIZE RESTRICTION: Your item must fit on a sheet of A3 paper, maximum height 30cm.

NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN IF ITEMS DO NOT MEET THESE REQUIREMENTS - if unsure whether your item will be suitable, please contact the organiser Laura's Pours.

If you require practical help with sanding / priming your item, you can drop into Go DIY prior to the workshop date to arrange this (charged on an individual basis).

If you would like your item to be varnished once fully cured in 2-3 weeks, this can also be arranged directly with Gaby @ Go DIY (charged on an individual basis).

Frequently asked questions

What do I need to bring?

Just yourself, your chosen item (prepped as per instructions listed in the event description), and preferably an old T-shirt or apron (just in case you get messy!) All acrylic pouring materials are provided.

When can I collect my item?

Items can be collected from Go DIY once dry to touch (in 2 - 3 days). However, if you opt to have your item varnished, it will need to cure for 2 weeks first to ensure that no moisture is sealed in. *All items MUST be collected within 3 weeks - after this time, items may be donated or recycled*

I'm not sure whether my item is suitable, what should I do?

Please refer to the list of suitable items / materials within the event description, and follow the instructions carefully to ensure that your item is prepped before the workshop. If in doubt, please 'contact the organiser' via Eventbrite and I will be happy to help.

Can kids take part?

Teens over 12 are welcome to attend - parents will be asked to provide emergency contact details if not attending with the young person. Due to the nature of the activity and space, this workshop is currently not open to children under the age of 12.
