About this event
Not sure what to do with clothes or textiles you have outgrown, damaged, worn out, don’t fit but loved? Bring them along to the workshop, where we will explore and exchange ideas and expertise.
Please bring the following, if you already have them:
- Clothing for upcycling
- Bits of textiles
- Haberdashery
But none of these are essential as Anna will also provide all of the above too.
- Aimed at people aged 18 years +
- Aimed at people with a moderate skill level of sewing
- The Town Hall is fully accessible (lift to first floor) with accessible toilets.
- Please contact us with any questions!
Anna Fraenkel has been making with textiles most of her life. A professional soft furnishing maker for the last 25 years, she is passionate about producing and exploring ideas of reimagined, wacky and wearable clothing. Anna is one of the coordinators of Everyone Needs Pockets in Frome.
This session is part of Fashion Reclaimed - Make and Mend Day
Join us for a day of reclaiming our clothes and fabrics in Frome through repair, reuse, remaking and refashioning as part of Sustainable Fashion Week hosted by Everyone Needs Pockets. We are the Frome Hub for SFW 2025.
An event for all ages with drop in activities and bookable workshops.
This is a family friendly event, and we welcome participating children accompanied by a responsible adult / parent. Frome Town Hall is fully accessible (via a lift) for wheeled users.
Please book your free tickets to come either in the morning or the afternoon.
Morning session: 10.30am to 12.30pm
Afternoon session: 1.30pm to 3.30pm
______________
Drop in / access any of these free activities running through the day:
Rope making with Sanne Visser Studio
Make a beautiful rope using scrap fabric on an amazing portable rope maker 2.0 with artist and designer Sanne Visser.
Community weaving on the giant loom
The joy of weaving with your hands. Get stuck in to ripping up scraps of fabric from the waste mountain, and add your bit to the collective work and watch the loom come to life.
Clothes repair and upcycling help desk
Clothes repair is as much about planning and inspiration as it is the practical work. Have a chat, get other menders' thoughts and advice. Join a bookable workshop (see below) if you want a practical session too.
Oh darn it! - Have a go at darning a sock
Dig in to the basket of socks and have a go at darning with a step by step guide. Kids can have a go too, but must be supervised by a responsible adult (due to needles).
A haberdashery, fabric and (textile related) book sale - donations go to support the work we do at Everyone Needs Pockets and at our future events. We'll be accepting both cash and card on the day!
A tea / coffee / cake space (donations welcome) for socialising
Inspiring displays and information about reclaiming fashion, and what we can do in Frome.
Come along and connect with others to take action on reclaiming your clothes and textiles - reduce waste, lift creativity, save carbon and landfill and increase wellbeing.
