About this Event

Update for Experienced Supervisors

Two separate sessions offered as follows:

October 6th 2020, 10.00 - 11.00,    March 9th 2021, 13.00- 15.00

PLEASE NOTE: These events will be delivered virtually. Booking/registration of interest can still be taken by the normal process using this eventbrite page and we will be in touch before the scheduled event date with further details.

Even experienced supervisors need to stay up-to-date on the latest changes – from research degrees regulations to developments at the Graduate School, and the best ways to support students in their researcher development training. As an experienced supervisor, you’ll need to complete this workshop (or the online version) every three years. The session is designed for busy people. Over two hours, you’ll gain a broad overview of supervision best practice at the University, including recent changes to the support we offer for research degrees.

You will discover how to find out more about resources such as Skills Forge and procedures for monitoring students. We’ll provide materials which enable you to give more structure to your role as a supervisor.

The session is for experienced supervisors who have already attended the one-day Introductory workshop for research supervisors.

PLEASE NOTE: This event is currently open only to Portsmouth University affiliated staff.
