Updates on the Employment Rights Bill

By The CIPD Branch in South East Scotland

Overview

BTO LLP will share its expertise, creating an action-focused session, with emphasis on anticipated impact of the Employee Rights Bill.

Individuals, from renowned law firm BTO LLP, will share their knowledge and wisdom relating to the forthcoming measures aligned with the new Employee Rights Bill.

Much of the Bill serves as a framework legislation for secondary implementing regulations and statutory codes of practice to follow, where the reforms will be set out in more detail. At this session we will explore the anticipated wins and potential losses, for employees and employers.

Given the anticipated consultations on a broad range of topics affecting employees throughout the UK, there are numerous opportunities for both generalist and specialist people professionals to actively participate.

Subject matter touched on may, for example, include: protection against detriments for taking industrial action and, blacklisting; flexible working; statutory sick pay; the gender pay gap; simplification of the trade union recognition process; and requirement for employers to take “all reasonable steps” to prevent sexual harassment of their employees.

Focus will be given to what you can do at this stage, what actions you should be planning for, and where you can access up to date information and outcomes from the political debates.

There will be opportunity to contribute to the discussion and challenge yourself and others’ thinking, as this potentially high impact HR shift moves further forward.
