About this event
Booking for all of our Learning for Leisure courses is via our Eventbrite pages. If you are no longer able to attend a course, we may be able to refund the course cost up to 7 days before the course start date. We will retain up to 10% of the payment to cover costs incurred by us.
We reserve the right for refunds to be issued by cheque.

You may need to supply some tools and pay (or provide) for resources appropriate to your project which may include webbing, tacks, thread, hessian, springs, fillers and fabric

This course is for:
Anyone wanting to develop skills in upholstery and furniture renovation.
You will learn:
You will upholster a project of your choice and learn how to:
• select the best materials for the project
• use a selection of tools
• complete a range of skills and techniques
This is a centre-based course with Covid precautions in place. The course may be subject to change depending on the latest Government guidance.
You will be given the support you require for your individual development.
Work outside of sessions:
You may want to continue working on your project at home with advice from the tutor.
Additional costs and what to prepare:
You will need to bring a project to work on e.g. chair, stool, or ottoman. If you are new to upholstery a dining chair or stool are ideal first projects. You will need to supply resources appropriate to your project which may include webbing, hessian, springs, fillers and fabric. You may need to supply tools. Resources/tools can be bought independently or purchased from the centre. Your tutor will advise you on the first session.
Wear protective clothing such as apron and covered shoes. Eye protection is recommended (clear goggles). A notebook is useful for recording the new skills learnt.
Please bring a packed lunch and a drink.

Course fees explained
Some of our courses are free of charge. Others have a full fee and a lower ‘concessions’ rate for those on certain benefits. This may vary from course to course so please ask when enquiring about a particular course. For many of our learning for leisure courses we use three different fee bands:
Fee A: Full fee
Fee B: Derbyshire Gold cards holders
Fee C: Concessions for those on certain benefits/allowances – details are on our How to fund your learning page.
There may be additional costs on some courses for materials please ask for details.
If selecting one of the reduced rates, you will be asked to show proof of entitlement when attending course.
Booking:
A booking fee is charged by Eventbrite for each booking, this is retained by Eventbrite and included in the advertised fee. Derbyshire Adult Community Education Service receive the course fee.
