Upper Itchen Restoration CIC Evening Event
Overview
The Upper Itchen Restoration Community Interest Company (UIR CIC) was formed in 2024 as a not-for-profit organisation, with the aim of monitoring and improving the quality of the aquatic environment in the Upper Itchen catchment (including the three headwater chalk streams - the River Alre, the Candover Brook and the Cheriton Stream).
Following the momentum of the Watercress and Winterbournes scheme, which is due to close at the end of March 2026, UIR CIC is delighted to be able to support you to continue the important and successful monitoring, survey and restoration activities on and around the Upper Itchen.
We would like to invite you to come along to meet us, hear about our aims and our current projects and to see how you can get involved.
Our speakers for the evening include:
- Directors of the UIR CIC with an introduction, projects summary and vision
- Professor Peter Gregory and Tom Gregory (Alreside Meadow) with their plans for an exciting local river project
- Jim Murray MBE (River Action UK, actor) on Project White Hart - a critical mission to save England's chalk stream salmon from extinction.
Following the speakers, there will be opportunity to find out more about volunteering and for networking to share interests and to offer ideas and expertise.
Light refreshments will be served. Parking is available at the venue.
Please book your place through Watercress and Winterbournes via Eventbrite.
We look forward to seeing you there.
