Event description

Description

Join us for a three-day conference in East Harlem, New York entitled "Upside Down: The Gospel on the Streets of El Barrio." The second day of the conference will begin on Tuesday, April 11th from 9:30 AM to Noon at Church of the Living Hope in east Harlem. Our presenter will be Dr. Serene Jones who will give a talk on Letty Russell entitled "The Woman Who Anoints." Serene is the President of Union Theological Seminary in New York City.

We remember Letty Russell, a Presbyterian minister who served within the East Harlem Protestant Parish 1952-68. She was a skilled organizer and feminist theologian, whose life can inspire us today who call El Barrio, the neighborhood she loved so well, our home. “Our struggle is to overcome the fear of difference and to break the bars that keep us apart.”

All tickets are free. If you have questions or need more information, please contact us at thelivinghopechurch@gmail.com

PLEASE NOTE: This is a waitlisted ticket only and you must present your ticket at the door before the event begins. Your ticket is only valid for this Tuesday morning event. If you would like to sign up for the other morning presentations on Monday (4/10) and Wednesday (4/12), you must sign up to receive a separate ticket for each event.

Limited seating. Event is limited to 100 guests.
