Explore the unexpected wildlife of the Ouseburn valley in this unique Urban Explorers walk. Ecologist Mike Jefferies will guide you through the Lower Ouseburn (between the Tyne and City Stadium) exploring the ways in which wildlife has made itself at home in this urban landscape. From brilliantly coloured dragonflies to Tyneside indigenous plants, come along and explore the feral on your doorstep.
Important Information
- The tour runs 11:00–13:00
- The group will meet outside the Ouesburn Farm.
- The tour is on foot and will involve considerable walking and possibly some steps.
- In September the weather can be changeable, and attendees are advised to ensure they are prepared for all conditions.
About the tour leader
Mike Jefferies is an ecologist based in Geography & Environmental Sciences at Northumbria University with a particular interest in ponds, wetland and the interplay of time and chanced on ecological communities.
