About this Event
Urban hikes for mental health are for people aged 15+ who want to feel more connected to their surroundings, themselves and others.
This hike will give you an opportunity to:
- Discover London’s urban and natural spaces
- Explore the connection between walking and wellbeing
- Participate in a mindfulness practice led by a qualified practitioner
- Engage in guided conversations on how to enhance your own mental health
- Connect with others
- Wild swim in the lake at Beckenham Place Park (entry fee included)
The details
Start point: 9.45am at Grove Park station (Zone 4, South-East London) for a prompt 10am departure
End point: Grove Park station approx 4.30 - 5pm
Approximate mileage: 6 miles
Please note this is a whole day event which consists of walking, guided conversations about mental health, and an optional wild swim.
Essential information for this urban hike:
- Bring your own lunch, snacks and plenty of water
- Wear suitable footwear and comfortable clothing, and come prepared for all weathers
- Bring a swimming costume and towel if you want to swim (there are basic changing facilities available)
- There are toilets and cafes at the mid-point, and a pub with toilets at the end point of the hike
- You may wish to bring something to sit on, as the guided conversations involve sitting on the ground
- Your facilitator will carry a small first aid kit, however if there are any items you know you will need, please bring these with you
- Urban hikes are suitable for those aged 15+. 15-17 year olds must be accompanied by an adult
- Photos may be taken for marketing purposes however your consent will be sought before any photos of you are used
