Urban Watersheds & Waterfront: Co-designing a sustainable city

About this event

Associate Professor Samia Rab Kirchner of Morgan State University is one of our new visiting professors and will discuss her research that has identified a missing threat that compromises any pursuit of sustainability: designed urban equalities. She uses the example of Baltimore as a city where centuries of design decisions have created segregated neighbourhoods.

Associate Professor Samia Rab Kirchner is an Architect and Urban Designer, currently teaching at the Morgan State University School of Architecture and Planning and holds the Chair of the Internationalization of Education at the Morgan Division of international Affairs. She has taught at the American University of Sharjah (UAE), the University of Hawaii (Honolulu) Georgia Institute of Technology (Atlanta). As a heritage conservation expert, she has consulted for UNESCO, Paris; International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM), Rome; Getty Center, Los Angeles; Qatar National Research Fund, Doha and the Government of Sharjah.
