Urbanisation and Health Network Webinar: Area Deprivation

Being able to identify and improve deprived urban areas is key to meeting Sustainable Development Goal 11, particularly to measure the target to ensure access for all to adequate, safe and affordable housing and basic services and to upgrade slums by 2030.

In this webinar Joshua Maviti (UN-HABITAT) will present progress on the development of the Participatory Slum Upgrading Index and plans for its use to monitor slum upgrading in Africa.

Ángela Abascal Imízcoz (Universidad de Navarra) and Monica Kuffer, (University of Twente) will present the Domains of Deprivation Framework, developed following a systematic review of drivers of poverty in urban areas.

The speakers will be joined by Dana Thomson (University of Twente) for a panel discussion on the challenges and potential of area deprivation measures
