About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Join us at our monthly gatherings to talk about cities and the places we love. We provide a platform to connect, collaborate, network, support and amplify the voices of women to create better places for everyone.

The Urbanistas NE gatherings are warm and welcoming spaces to talk, share ideas, meet each other and lift each other up.

We use an open, informal and collaborative structure for our gatherings to help us have the conversation we want to have together on the night. We're inspired by open and participatory events and ways of working including Lean Coffee, Open Space (Technology), social media surgeries (especially simplicity and zero expectations), Liberating Structures, and more in the way we run our gatherings.

    Our 2024 meet ups

We meet on the third Thursday of each month, and our dates this year are 18 January, 15 February, 21 March, 18 April, 16 May, 20 June, 18 July, 15 August, 19 September, 17 October, 21 November and 19 December.

    About Urbanistas

We are passionate about growing women’s leadership and capacity by providing a space where women can blend our personal values and professional expertise to make things happen.

Despite there being an abundance of amazing women doing great things in the north east we are still hugely underrepresented - as leaders, as innovators and as role models. So, we bring women together to share ideas and activities to bring about positive change in our cities.

You don’t have to be a working in the built environment to be an Urbanista – you just need to love cities! In fact, Urbanistas come from a diverse range of lifestyles, interests, backgrounds, professional levels and disciplines. We include place makers, geographers, social entrepreneurs, youth workers, architects, policy makers, teachers, artists, curators, community builders, economists, mental health practitioners, film makers and writers.

What makes Urbanistas different to other networks is our emphasis on collaboration and action. Bringing women together to offer a platform for sharing ideas and driving collaboration is at the core of what we do.

    Organised by

Urbanistas NE is a collaborative women-led network amplifying the voices of women to make cities better for everyone. We create a space for women to try out their ideas and believe that the best way to start is by starting.
