This guest speaker series is funded by an AHRC funded research project entitled Delivering Heritage: a place-based creative approach to scanning post office cultures in India and the UK.

Name of Speaker: Wajid Yaseen

Urbex Audio — Abandoned Building Tour is a creative exploration of three uninhabited buildings centred on the theme of exhaustion. The project is led by sound artist Wajid Yaseen and involves a diverse team of 12 artists—from sonic arts, urban exploration, psychogeography, choreography, film, and photography—responding to each site through sound, movement, image and text. Sites ranged across an ex‑military hospital, an ex‑cinema and an ex‑music hall, and outputs included capturing the acoustic resonance of the spaces as they are now (known as Impulse Responses), a series of live art/performances, photographs, videos and written pieces offering layered perspectives on the buildings. The work invites audiences to sense how physical environments hold memory and wear, and guides through layered atmospheres and traces of past vitality.
